Fulton made his pro debut in 2014. In 2019 he beat Paulus Ambunda for the IBO super-bantamweight title. He moved up in weight for his next bout and relinquished the belt. In January 2021, Fulton beat Angelo Leo for the WBO super-bantamweight title. In November of that year, Fulton beat Brandon Figueroa to win the WBC title.

Roman made his pro debut in 2010. After a loss to Juan Reyes in 2013, Roman went on a 19-fight win streak. During that time, he won the WBA-NABA, WBA and IBF super-bantamweight titles. He lost them to Murodjon Akhmadaliev in 2020. Since then, he has won his next two fights. The most recent was a unanimous decision over Ricardo Espinoza Franco in May 2021.
