Adesanya will defend his title against Cannonier at UFC 276 on July 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Adesanya made his MMA debut in 2012. Since joining the UFC in 2018, Adesanya is 11-1 with the promotion. He beat Kelvin Gastelum in 2019 for the interim UFC middleweight title. That same year, he beat Robert Whittaker via KO to win the middleweight title.

Adesanya has defended the title four times, beating Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori and Whittaker. The rematch with Whittaker took place last February.

Cannonier made his pro debut in 2011. The AFC heavyweight champion lost his UFC debut in 2015. He is 8-5 with the promotion, 5-1 over his past six fights and on a two-fight win streak. His last fight was a knockout win over Derek Brunson last February. Cannonier has fought at heavyweight and light heavyweight in the past.
