Announced during the 2022 Game Awards just a month ago, Hades 2 is taking the phenomenal groundwork laid by Hades and expanding on it in some big ways. This time around, players are taking control of another Greek mythology deep-cut in the form of Melinoe, who is tasked with stopping the Titan Chronos from escaping his prison and wreaking havoc on Olympus. Though it’s only just been announced, fans should see more from Hades 2 in 2023.

Everything Revealed About Hades 2 So Far
With just one trailer released so far, Hades 2 fans don’t have too much to go on right now, but the trailer does give out some key details. Players will be controlling Melinoe, the daughter of Persephone and Zeus. Melinoe has seemingly spent her life training under Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft and necromancy. Melinoe finally gets to put these years of training into practice when Chronos, the Titan father of Zeus and ancestor to most of the Greek pantheon, escapes from his eternal bonds in the underworld. Now it’s up to Melinoe to defeat Chronos, and possibly some of his Titan brethren, before he can destroy Mount Olympus and wage war on its gods.
Based on the trailer, it seems as though Hades 2 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor pretty closely when it comes to gameplay. The same isometric perspective is being used, the speed of combat looks about the same, and the player will once again have access to a whole host of abilities, with most of them presumably being magic-based thanks to Hecate. Hades 2 is also set to introduce a new host of Greek gods and goddesses, including Nemesis the goddess of retribution, the sun god Apollo, and the mysterious Dora, who is given the title “Listless Shade.” Much like in the first game, these characters will help Melinoe in her journey by imbuing her with their powers.
Hades 2 Could Hit Early Access in 2023
While Hades 2 was only announced a month ago, Supergiant Games has already confirmed that fans will hear more from the game in 2023. Much like its predecessor, Hades 2 will first be released in Early Access. Apparently, Supergiant believes that this Early Access period was vital in making the original game such high-quality, and the developer wants to ensure that the sequel lives up to its lofty expectations. Throughout the Early Access period, players will be encouraged to share their opinions with the developer so that it can implement those changes before Hades 2 gets a wide release.
Just following the game’s announcement, Supergiant specified that fans would hear more about Hades 2’s Early Access period at some point in 2023. Now, this doesn’t mean that Hades 2 will enter Early Access in 2023, but it does hopefully mean that by the end of the year, fans will at least have a confirmed date of when they’ll be able to play the highly anticipated sequel. For those who are going to stick it out until Hades 2 has its full release, they could be waiting quite a long time.
Hades 2 is expected to go into early access in 2023 on PC.
