Fortunately for fans, Capcom confirmed that it would heavily showcase Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil 4 Remake. However, the latest teaser for the showcase hinted that Capcom would be talking about other things aside from the previously mentioned remake and DLC. While the studio did not provide any clues as to what other things it plans to reveal for the Resident Evil franchise, fans only have to wait a day to find out.

An In-Depth Look at Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil 4 Remake

Given that Capcom has already fleshed out what players should expect to see in the Gold Edition of Resident Evil Village, it is likely that tomorrow’s showcase will focus on shedding some light on the story of the Shadows of Rose DLC, its characters, and how it will affect the franchise moving forward. It is worth remembering that Capcom confirmed that Shadows of Rose is set 16 years after Village in a previous trailer, which would isolate Resident Evil’s legacy characters. Tomorrow’s showcase may also focus on Shadows of Rose’s gameplay, such as new enemy types, weapons, items, locations, and more.

As far as Resident Evil 4 Remake is concerned, Capcom confirmed that tomorrow’s event would see the release of never-before-seen gameplay footage and a new trailer. Given that Resident Evil 4 is one of the franchise’s most beloved entries, fans have eagerly anticipated seeing new footage of the upcoming game to assess whether it will live up to the original.

While Capcom’s Resident Evil remakes have been mostly successful, fans have been divided on whether these recreations are worthy of the name, as with the case of the negative reception received by Resident Evil 3 Remake. Of course, no one can fully assess whether a game is good until one gets to experience it for themselves. However, tomorrow’s showcase would at least give fans a sneak peek of the remake.

A Possible Surprise Announcement for the Resident Evil Franchise

As previously mentioned, the latest teaser for tomorrow’s Resident Evil showcase hinted that more would be discussed beyond Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Resident Evil 4 Remake. While fans would have to watch the showcase for themselves to find out, there are several possibilities of what this could be.

First, Capcom may announce another DLC expansion for Resident Evil Village. Looking at Capcom’s history, Resident Evil 7 received two DLC expansions, and it is possible that Resident Evil Village would follow suit. Another story expansion for Resident Evil Village could focus on Chris Redfield and maybe other legacy characters such as Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Leon Kennedy, giving them a proper send-off if the series is truly moving forward without them.

Another possible scenario would be the announcement of a new game in the Resident Evil franchise, which could either be a new entry to the mainline series or a spin-off game. It is worth remembering that rumors have sparked before that Capcom is developing a spin-off game called Resident Evil Outrage that will allegedly see the return of Rebecca Chambers. However, Capcom never confirmed the existence of this spin-off title, so the possibility of its announcement tomorrow may be slim.

Of course, given that Capcom has rightfully earned the reputation of king of video game remakes, one can’t discount the possibility of a Code Veronica remake. However, given that Resident Evil 4 Remake is still in development and is yet to be released, the chance of Code Veronica being announced at tomorrow’s showcase is improbable. Lastly, now that the remakes of the first three Resident Evil games are out, many are hoping for Capcom to remaster and release the original Resident Evil trilogy for current-gen consoles. While the studio hasn’t revealed any intentions to remaster its classic games, announcing a plan to do so tomorrow would surely be welcomed with open arms by Resident Evil fans.

Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition will release on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
