First announced in September 2022 during the D23 Expo, Skydance’s Marvel game sees players head to an alternate version of World War 2, where Black Panther and Captain America need to join forces to defeat the armies of evil that are spreading around the globe. While no release date has been confirmed, it’s fairly likely that Skydance’s Marvel game will appear again before the year is out.

Everything Revealed About Skydance’s Marvel Game So Far

Back when Skydance’s Marvel game was first announced in September 2022, it debuted alongside a brief teaser trailer. Coming in at just a minute long, this trailer doesn’t give too much away, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted some Easter eggs and secrets that could tease elements of the game. The trailer opens up with Vera Lynn’s iconic “We’ll Meet Again” playing, firmly setting the stage for this Marvel game’s WW2 backdrop. A few shots of WW2-era Paris are shown before the camera cuts to the inside of a building.

As the camera pans across a desk, several documents and newspapers are shown, again confirming that the game seemingly takes place during the Nazi occupation of France, sometime after 1940. Eventually, the camera reveals a document that loudly spells out “Hydra” on the front, confirming the game’s main antagonistic force. Captain America’s iconic shield is then revealed, with five distinct scratch marks being chipped into the top. The camera then cuts to show in-game footage of Black Panther extending his claws and moving slowly toward Captain America.

The end of the trailer shows the siliheouttes of four figures. Two of these are immediately recognizable as Black Panther and Captain America, while the other two are a little more elusive. According to Skydance, these characters will be Gabriel Jones, a member of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, the leader of Wakanda’s spy network. While Captain America will be Steve Rogers in this title, Black Panther is actually T’Challa’s grandfather, Azzuri. Players will apparently be able to play as all four of these characters during the game. Skydance’s Marvel game will be a “globe-trotting” adventure that has “exhilarating second-to-second” gameplay. With Amy Hennig at the helm, best known for her work on Uncharted and Legacy of Kain, these sound like fair comments to make.

Skydance Could Reveal More About its Marvel Game in 2023

It’s unclear how long Skydance’s Marvel game has been in development, but it’s a safe bet to assume that the studio is a fair way through production. While Skydance’s Marvel game could still be quite a ways off from releasing, there’s always the possibility that the game gets another trailer at some point in 2023. However, with Marvel probably wanting to focus all the gaming public’s attention on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, fans shouldn’t expect to see much, if anything, from Skydance’s Marvel game until the end of 2023, likely during the next D23 showcase or even the Game Awards.

Skydance’s Marvel game is in development.
